Location: Jacksonville, North Carolina
Responsible for overseeing the Variable Operations Departments including new and used vehicle sales, finance and insurance, and Business Development Center (BDC). The General Sales Manager is responsible for operations, profitability, sales performance results, department supervision, and customer satisfaction in Variable Operations.
This job has direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Works to improve sales and operations.
Works with upper management and Human Resources to make hiring and discipline decisions.
Assists sales and finance team members with processing or completing sales.
Oversees training and supervising of sales, finance, and BDC team employees.
Develops product promotions to motivate sales, finance, and BDC team employees and managers.
Oversees department inventory and pricing.
Oversees departmental gross profit and related departmental expenses.
Works to motivate sales, finance and BDC team employees and managers.
Oversees reporting of sales to manufacturer(s).
Has working knowledge of factory(s) incentive programs.
Regularly attends required manager meetings and bucket meetings.
Maintains effective employee relations.
Maintains CSI at or above Company standards
Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area
Participates in required training
Follows Safeguards rules and regulations.
Demonstrates the Company's Core Values
Complies with Company policies and procedures
Observes all Federal, State, Local and Company safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.

Excellent sales skills, prior management experience desired. Thorough knowledge of automotive sales industry.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid Driver's License
o Automobile Salesperson License
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products. Advanced ability and knowledge of Dealership Management System and web based applications.
Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel.
The position requires regular and predictable attendance. Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and sit.
Duties are performed throughout the premises, both indoors and outdoors and on customer test drives. Due to the nature of the position, may be exposed to various work environments and required to perform a variety of tasks. Work includes frequent movement around the company facilities and the outdoor car lot to interact with customers and other departments.
Verbal and Writing Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
