Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional General Pediatrician to join our Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and interest in education as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.

The Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine is a multidisciplinary group of diverse members, including pediatric providers - MDs and DOs - and advance practice providers, primarily nurse practitioners. Division members offer comprehensive primary care health services for infants, children, tweens, teens, and young adults.

Many clinicians practice in UW Health specialty clinics that address diverse aspects of adolescent medicine such as pediatric and adolescent gynecology, sports medicine, and gender care. The program also staffs urgent care facilities. The division takes pride in the range and reach of its faculty's scholarly work and the critical role that administrators and research staff play in advancing its mission. It's members also unite around a strong teaching mission involving students, residents, and fellows.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a vibrant academic department comprising more than 200 faculty members in 16 subspecialty divisions. The department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting-edge research, and vigorous advocacy. Responsibilities:

If hired on the CT Track:

  • Provide clinical care to pediatric patients in an outpatient setting. This position is recruiting for up to a .9 Clinical FTE in General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Additional FTE is available for those with an interest in child abuse pediatrics to provide clinical services for victims of suspected child maltreatment.

  • Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups, and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.

If hired on the CHS Track:

  • Provide clinical care to pediatric patients in an outpatient setting. This position is recruiting for up to a .9 Clinical FTE in General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. Additional FTE is available for those with an interest in child abuse pediatrics to provide clinical services for victims of suspected child maltreatment.

  • Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups, and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care.

  • The successful applicant will participate in administrative and/or scholarly work to support the missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health.

This vacancy is being announced as either CHS or CT Track. Having two tracks posted into this vacancy listing allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider clinical teacher faculty candidates with or without research credentials for this non-tenure-track position. CHS Track duties may consist of dedicated FTE time for scholarly work and teaching.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required, by start date.

  • Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.

For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on the CHS or CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment or promotion to Associate Professor or Professor on the CHS or CT Track.

License/certification:

  • Board eligibility in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics is required, by start date.

  • Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical licensure, by start date.

  • Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges, by start date.

Work Type:

Part Time: 50% - 90%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
