Under general department level supervision and alongside a credentialed teacher, the Arts Instructional Specialist creates lessons and delivers instruction for student arts programs based upon established arts standards, connecting lessons to established themes and teaching content from other subjects and disciplines.

POSITION DETAILSThe Fullerton School District is seeking highly qualified individuals to support our Arts Department and credentialed teachers in creating and delivering dynamic music lessons that connect content from other subjects and disciplines to students in Elementary School. The current opening supports the general music program at multiple elementary school sites.

This position works a total of 10 - 35 hours per week (during school hours), 9.5 months per year. This position may include paid holidays, sick leave and vacation, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance.Important Note:

Formal college coursework or verifiable training in a field related to the knowledge and ability requirements of this classification from an institute of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation is preferred.Experience: Verifiable experience as a practitioner in specialized art form is required and additional or concurrent experience working with students within specialized art form is desirable.Special Information: Some positions in this classification may require specialized knowledge and experience related to the assigned art program. The current opening will require music theory knowledge and experience; and also requires experience teaching students (ages 5-12) music.

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The recruitment process may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, performance test and/or structured interview.

To qualify for placement on an eligibility list, a candidate must achieve a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be determined by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination.

If Veterans' credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office simultaneously with the application form or before testing. The eligibility list will remain active for twelve (12) months. It will be utilized to fill both current and future vacancies.

Dates of Exams and Interviews The date(s) of the examinations and interviews will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, writing, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination or interview.
