Hourly Rate: $32.29

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor of General Mechanics, Temple University's General Mechanics II (GMs) are the primary customer response personnel for general, interior building maintenance issues. Successful candidates will possess a strong customer service orientation and a focus on quality and safety, be mechanically proficient, and have experience in general building maintenance practices. The GMs are part of the Office of Facilities Management and work with the skilled trades to provide an optimal learning and research environment for the Temple community. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

  • A Trade school degree in a related craft is required.

  • A minimum of three (3) years general maintenance experience in a commercial or educational environment with demonstrated electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills required.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.

  • An equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to drive around and between campuses to transport tools and equipment.

  • Ability to be a team player and work towards common goals in a timely and constructive manner.

  • Capable of prioritizing urgent projects and working in a fast-paced and challenging work environment.

  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • Experience in working in high-rise buildings and knowledge of building codes.

  • This position requires a background check.
