This role will focus on:

The General Manager for the Americas Division is tasked with driving profitable sales growth across the region, aligning with the Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) strategy and the Spirax-Sarco Engineering plc (SSE) core values. This pivotal role involves leading strategic and operational teams to ensure an efficient, effective, and productive business operation, in harmony with WMFTG's Strategy and SSE's Core Values. Key responsibilities include implementing WMFTS strategic objectives in coordination with the Divisional Director, fostering collaborative efforts across all WMFTS brands and sectors, driving organizational change, and maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction to promote business growth and customer loyalty. This role is essential in guiding the organization's success in the Americas, requiring a dynamic, strategic, and customer-focused approach.

What you'll be doing

  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and execute a detailed sales strategy, including market and competitor analysis, to drive growth and meet targets across diverse markets in the Americas.

  • Digital Transformation and Technology Utilization: Lead digital transformation initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance sales effectiveness, operational efficiency, and customer engagement.

  • Advanced Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term customer relationships, tailoring strategies to meet diverse market needs and enhance customer satisfaction across the region.

  • Innovation and Product Development Collaboration: Actively collaborate in product innovation and development, ensuring alignment with regional market demands and trends.

  • Financial Management and Acumen: Oversee financial aspects including budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning to ensure optimal use of resources and financial health of the division.

  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead and integrate cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, and HR, to ensure cohesive strategy implementation and operational excellence.

  • Cultural Sensitivity and Market Adaptation: Demonstrate sensitivity to different cultures and market dynamics within the Americas, adapting strategies to suit regional nuances.

  • Sustainability and CSR Initiatives: Drive sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives, aligning with corporate values and enhancing the division's social and environmental impact.

  • Diverse Team Development: Focus on developing a diverse and inclusive team culture, ensuring a wide range of perspectives and ideas are represented and valued.

  • Strategic Partnerships and Industry Networking: Build and maintain strategic partnerships and networks to foster business opportunities and stay abreast of industry trends and developments.

  • Risk Management and Regulatory Compliance: Manage risks effectively and ensure strict compliance with both local and international regulations and standards.

  • Talent Management and Succession Planning: Oversee talent management, focusing on skill development, motivation, and transparent recruitment, while ensuring effective succession planning.

  • Performance Reporting and Strategic Decision Making: Provide accurate orders, sales forecasts, and business reporting, making strategic decisions to optimize performance and align with overarching corporate goals.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrable experience in a senior leadership role, with a track record of effectively working with senior stakeholders and leading operating companies, showcasing strong people leadership and team-building skills.

  • Comprehensive Business and Sales Acumen: Deep understanding of managing all aspects of a business, especially in a sales-focused environment, with a focus on profit and loss responsibility and a customer-centric approach.

  • Strategic and Visionary Thinking: Ability to communicate and reinforce a vision for a 'best-in-class' sales organization, implementing strategic objectives and leading change initiatives with a clear focus on customer needs and market dynamics.

  • Collaboration and Cultural Sensitivity: Strong collaboration skills across diverse groups of stakeholders, coupled with an understanding of cultural differences and corporate culture, adapting strategies to local and international contexts.

  • Accountability and High Personal Impact: Takes accountability for decisions and initiating change, making a significant impact through leadership, action, and a commitment to driving customer satisfaction and business growth.

  • Adaptability and International Outlook: Openness to innovation and adaptability to changing business landscapes, with the ability and willingness to travel internationally, driving the organization towards future success in a global market.

  • ADA Considerations and Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to travel up to 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally. Physical requirements include extensive travel by plane and car, occasional lifting of marketing materials and setup for events, and adaptability to changing schedules and environments.
