This General Manager position is accountable for the management and efficient operation of an assigned facility. This manager will provide direct and indirect oversight for the staff and their development as well as compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Helps direct and guide assigned housekeeping and janitorial employees.

  • Helps train new staff and provides ongoing training to existing staff.

  • Regularly conducts, replaces, and disperses assigned inventories.

  • Regularly conducts inspections to maintain the quality of provided services.

  • Coordinates associated equipment care and maintenance.

  • Helps conduct safety meetings and insures daily operations are in compliance with company and client safety requirements.

  • Makes sure all quality standards and work procedures for staff are met.

  • Personally resolves minor maintenance or client emergencies as they occur or takes steps to permanently address them.

  • Assist employees in the resolution of work related difficulties.

  • Identifies, resolves, or appropriately reports site's safety hazards.

  • Assists in having available all required HazCom documentation.

  • Performs all duties required of a janitor or other assigned employee.

  • Accountable for meeting all of the obligations required of assigned employees.

  • Willing to promote NMS Core Values in the workplace.

  • Other related duties may also be assigned/required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Minimum five (5) years of directly related experience that demonstrates knowledge of janitorial duties required.

  • Experience in supervisory role overseeing janitorial operations for multiple large buildings.

  • Experience in school custodial operations strongly preferred.

  • A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.

  • Must be proficient in using the following equipment: calculator, fax machine, multi- line phone, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, copy machine and misc. office equipment.

  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

  • Knowledgeable about the use of industrial cleaning products and chemicals, and interpreting Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner.

  • Proven success at managing multiple tasks, projects and subordinates.

  • Strong ability to lead, build diverse teams and oversee training.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, talk or hear, pull/push carts, twist. The manager is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The manager is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The associate must frequently pull/push linen cart up and lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration. The associate is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
