Aparium Hotel Group is looking for a General Manager to join our team at the Surety Hotel in Des Moines, IA. As the General Manager at Aparium Hotel Group, you will develop and support the pre-opening and post-opening operating strategy for the hotel to align with our company pillars of translocal hospitality, intuitive service and collaborative culture. As the General Manager, you are accountable for the guest experience, associate engagement, financial performance and revenue generation, among other responsibilities. The General Manager actively participates in the operation leads by example and inspects what they expect.

Aparium hotel group is renovating the historic, 12 floor Midland Building into a 138 room, four star hotel. Opened in 1912 as the Hippee-Polk building, the hotel will include a restaurant, 200pp ballroom, meeting and event space as well as an outdoor courtyard.

Founded in 2011, Aparium Hotel Group is a Chicago-based, leading lifestyle hotel company owned and operated by industry veterans accomplished in hotel development, management and marketing. Aparium Hotel Group's growth is guided by its "Translocal Hospitality" philosophy, which is the belief that great hotels are a destination sought out by travelers and a place that thrives as a gathering hub for locals. Specializing in historic adaptive reuse projects, each of Aparium Hotel Group's properties are independent brands and celebrate the specific neighborhoods and unique history of the distinct cities in which they reside. Aparium Hotel Group currently operates ten hotel properties across the United States with more than a dozen new projects in development.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Profitability:

  • Responsible for short and long-term profitability of the hotel

  • Develops and monitors annual business and marketing plans

  • Measures the effectiveness of broad-based marketing plans and yield management efforts in order to diversify sources of revenue and maximize the number of market segments needed

  • Ensures all associates follow instincts and use best judgment to create experiences for guests that are thoughtful and authentic

  • Maximizes the guest experience and upholds Aparium standards consistently

  • Utilizes guest feedback to improve service delivery

Growth:

  • Attracts and selects the most qualified, on-brand talent

  • Develops and coaches associates for future advancement

Education:

  • A 4-year college degree preferred

Experience:

  • Five or more years of experience in hotel management at an executive level

  • Hotel opening experience preferred

  • Knowledge of all hotel functions preferred

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language required

  • Proficiency of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required

  • Intuitively services each guest, associate, visitor or client

  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on the details

  • Follows instinct and uses her/his best judgment to create experiences for guests that are thoughtful and genuine

  • Greets each guest promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact, a smile and good posture

  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of the hotel
