We currently have a full time opening for a General Manager of 5 Cemeteries located in SE Wisconsin. . This is the opportunity to be part of the Dignity Memorial provider network and grow your career in the funeral, cremation and cemetery services business. Our successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of these location and should be adept at building community relations. They will be expected to direct and lead all Cemetery personnel and ensure that the facility and grounds are maintained to a high degree of readiness.

  • Select, train and motivate location staff to assure that they create and maintain a premier level of client family satisfaction.

  • Achieve the location's annual financial and marketing goals.

  • Manage the business of the operation as if it were your own.

  • Maintain a motivated and dedicated staff with the skills necessary to service client family needs.

  • Assure that staff members understand location goals, policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that services are conducted in a manner that exceeds the expectations of our client families and friends.

  • Practice and promote teamwork among location staff.

  • Serve as a mentor and coach to associates in addition to promoting teamwork among the staff members.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Previous Cemetery Management experience is essential with at least 3 years of experience preferred

  • Must understand how to analyze financial reports to determine actions necessary to maintain and/or improve the location's performance

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • A willingness to participate in community organizations

  • Superior management skills and desire to advance within the company

The individual selected for this position will be responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of team members of the General Merchandise and HBC Departments, as well as ensuring the production of quality merchandise and service consistent with Meijer Standards. Key responsibilities include: * In charge of achieving sales, labor, supply expenses and margin by period for the General Merchandise and HBC Department plan for department * Maintaining a friendly selling approach to customers that is in line with commitment to the Meijer Friendly program * Developing and implementing plans for achieving departmental objectives and business plans * Following through on sales plans in full support of division merchandising programs * Planning and carrying out in-store promotions and interdepartmental tie-ins to maximize sales and create a selling atmosphere * Establishing and maintaining effective inventory control methods in all departments * Controlling ordering; avoiding overstocks; supporting administration * Requiring, through proper supervision, effective pricing of merchandise * Ensuring freshness of product by closely adhering to rotation and dating policy * Scheduling and organizing work force consistent with store sales * Controlling departmental expenses such as wages, utilities, supplies, etc. * Assisting in the selection, indoctrination, training and development of departmental personnel, utilizing division training programs * Planning and conducting weekly meetings with departmental personnel * Supervising Sanitation Program in compliance with Company standards * Being familiar with and working within framework of the stores * Keeping Store Manager informed of all activities within own area of responsibility * Instructing employees in the proper use of store equipment to ensure safety standards are accomplished * Maintaining self-development program to improve own personal knowledge, skills, and abilities in order to continue to upgrade own contribution to the store * Handling customer complaints quickly and efficiently in order to achieve customer satisfaction Qualifications: * Oral and written communication/language and mathematical skills * Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations * Listen and gets clarification; Responds well to questions * Write clearly and informatively * Present numerical data effectively * Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Meijer polices and applicable laws * Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. * Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as department manual * Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence * Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts as discounts, interest, commissions, proportion, and percentages * Make self-available to staff; assist with developing subordinates' skills and encouraging growth * Continually works to improve supervisory skills * Ability to prioritize work tasks, multi-task, and maintain focus * Contribute to building a positive team spirit * Show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences * Promote a harassment-free environment * Accept responsibility for own actions * Align work with strategic goals * Ability to communicate effectively with customers * Work within approved budget * Contribute to profits and revenue Meijer, Inc.
