General Maintenance Worker

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

• Maintains, repairs and upkeeps property located throughout the school and school campuses to include plumbing, carpentry, brickwork, painting, glazing, minor electrics, and mechanical

• Assists craftsmen as needed for jobs being performed

• Upkeep of school campuses grounds such as weed eating, removing debris, litter, and keeping all outside walkways clean, mowing, etc.

• Uses hand tools of various trades in performing the tasks assigned by supervisor

• Assists in development and maintains a checklist of scheduled maintenance on all district owned buildings and property

• Maintains an inventory of needed materials and parts to provide prompt service to all maintenance at school sites as needed.

• Requested technical assistance as needed to the Coordinator of Custodial/Maintenance

• Attends in-service training programs and meetings as designed by the supervisor

• Performs maintenance tasks at a high level of competency

• Verbally communicates necessary materials and equipment needed to complete assigned jobs

• Creates and maintains a safe work environment

• Acts as a model for students in behavior, speech, and dress

• Attends work regularly and arrives punctually

• Notifies supervisor promptly in case of absence and communicates in advance the date of return so proper provisions can be made

• Perform low technical tasks with minimum direction

• Transport equipment and materials to jobsite

• Perform the duties of a basic locksmith; i.e. replace locks, and repair all other hardware

• Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met

• Display professionalism in appearance, attitude, and actions

• Assist in coordinating events in the Gina Cox Center

• Basic custodial duties, i.e. cleaning up water leaks, plunging toilets, etc.

• Complete monthly fire extinguisher inspections and initial tag

• Do monthly safety checks on emergency lighting and exit signs

• Once a month health & safety check on your building; should be turned in to maintenance supervisor

• Responsible for your assigned campus. When absent, your sister campus will be your sub for the period of absence
