General Maintenance Technician

Wilmington College is seeking applicants for the position of General Maintenance Technician in our Physical Plant Department on the main campus in Wilmington, Ohio. This is a full time, non-exempt position.

General Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skills and semi-skilled maintenance tasks, repairs, and assists with improving the College owned facilities, property and equipment. Responsibilities include:

• Performs general maintenance, replacement, repair, alterations, and minor installation of:

• buildings and equipment/fixtures (e.g. doors, windows, walls, floors, stairways, furniture, including painting of College owned facilities and properties.

• electrical equipment (e.g. light fixtures, electrical outlets, switches, motors, appliances, circuits, generators).

• plumbing equipment (e.g. water lines, trap fittings, plumbing fixtures pumps).

• Assist with hazard removal (e.g. snow, ice) as needed.

• Supervises student workers as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned to support the advancement of the College.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least three years of training or experience in maintenance repair work is required.

• Knowledge of maintenance repair work, including light electrical, plumbing, carpentry, associated hand and power tools and equipment, and associated safety practices.

• Valid State of Ohio driver's license.

• Ability to perform tasks in low, high, and tight spaces such as closets, windows, crawl spaces under floors and above ceilings, stairwells, equipment rooms, building exteriors and roofs.

• Ability to handle exposure to dirt, dust, grease, electricity, climatic weather, various chemicals such as drain cleaners, glues, paint, equipment with moving parts and loud noise.

• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs (50 lbs on a regular basis).

• Use of machine tools, ladders, and equipment.

• Ability to drive and operate utility vehicles.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime when needed.
