Job Responsibilities
Performs material handling and receiving duties associated with receipts of new equipment including: unloading equipment; staging equipment in designated areas; performing quality control inspections referencing agency specifications; notifying supervisor of all discrepancies; processing new equipment reports; preparing equipment for release; installing license tags, agency decals, and property control numbers; releasing equipment to field units; and maintaining accurate recordkeeping.
Performs material handling and receiving duties associated with receipts of used turn in equipment including: unloading equipment; staging equipment in designated turn in receiving areas; performing equipment inspections and evaluations; removing license tags, decals, warning lights, two-radios, DMls, and other items excluded from surplus sales; scheduling repairs as needed; reissuing equipment to field units; and maintaining accurate recordkeeping.
Assists with generating turn in documents for used equipment disposals and sales through State Surplus Property Office (SPO). Assists with property control and turnover of surplus equipment in designated staging areas. Provides assistance during SPO inspections and loading equipment following surplus equipment sales.
Assists with operation of vehicle and equipment pools, inspects condition of vehicles and equipment to maintain quality appearance and performance, schedules preventive maintenance services, cleans vehicles and equipment, enters reservation schedules for pool vehicles and equipment, and prepares monthly usage reports.
Inspects and maintains fuel service station facility and grounds for OSHA and SCDHEC regulation compliance and environmental reporting. Verifies accuracy of quality and quantity of fuel delivered. Reports damages and/or failures of fuel site equipment to supervisor and assists with repairs when necessary.
Ensures all safety regulations and guidelines are maintained within equipment receiving and property disposal section of shop. Ensures all hazardous waste and materials are properly stored and disposed of per DHEC regulations.
Performs maintenance tasks on Equipment Depot grounds to include cutting of shrubs, grass, and water shrubs as needed. Ensures grounds are liter free. Assists with opening and closing the Depot and maintaining security of property and agency accountable assets. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Six (6) months of trades experience that is directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, grasping and physically manipulate objects of varying size, shape, weight, and material. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work hours outside the normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental related emergencies.
