Alutiiq Commercial Enterprises has an exciting opportunity supporting the U.S. Airforce at Joint Base Langley - Eustis (JBLE) located in the Hampton/Newport News, VA area.

The General Maintenance III - Carpenter maintains and repairs physical structures of buildings by performing the following duties.

  • Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of the following duties:
  • Inspecting, repairing and maintaining roofs and gutter systems.
  • Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings; repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets;
  • Painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps; replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles; hanging doors and installing door locks; replacing broken window panes; and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Payrate: $32.58 hourly

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Pursuant to the Government Contract, you must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be fluent in English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, ETC.: Valid driver's license and safe driving record. Facility clearance including official background checks is required.
  • MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Ability to safely utilize, operate and maintain hand and power tools common to the trade.
