General Maintenance

The General Mechanic is responsible for compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws to assure a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times. Performs routine assigned duties according to specific detailed written procedures. Must be capable of independent decision making during emergency or unusual situations

Qualifications

Minimum required education and training:

A. Must read well enough to follow written instructions.

B. Must write well enough to communicate with others.

C. Must possess current Tennessee motor vehicle operators permit.

Essential Job Functions:

A. Must safely load and operate a standard shift truck.

B. Must be able to climb vertical ladders while carrying tools and maintenance equipment.

C. Must be able to work while standing on ladders or scaffolding.

D. Must be able to work in extremes of heat or cold.

E. Must be able to lift and carry heavy loads.

Working Conditions:

A. Works inside and outside the medical center.

B. Works mostly in areas of conditioned air but sometimes in extremes of heat or cold.

C. Works sometimes in inclement weather.
