Position qualifies for 30 cents/hour Maintenance and Trades differential pay. Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
General Maintenance and Repair Technician Senior
The General Maintenance and Repair Technician (GMRT) Senior position assists the skilled crafts positions with work in the areas of carpentry, electrical, masonry, and painting, including remodeling as a member of the Construction Crew for the Capitol Complex. This position performs skilled work installing drywall and painting, refinishing furniture and other painted, stained or finished surfaces. This GMRT Sr. position works on the Construction Crew and reports to the Physical Plant Supervisor Senior.
The GMRT Senior will be assigned the following duties and responsibilities:
Installs, remodels, and repairs existing interior structures, with sheet rock wall, ceilings, enclosures, metal partitions, door frames, doors, locks, window casings, metal access doors, ceiling tiles, grid type suspended ceilings, floor tiles, trims and molding, in order to provide buildings with interiors which are structurally sound and have an attractive appearance as well as temporarily patch areas damaged by other than normal wear.
Prepares wood, (including doors, furniture, concrete, metal, masonry or drywall surfaces in order to thoroughly and uniformly cover surfaces with latex, lacquers, oil base and acrylic paint in a reasonable amount of time; to protect interior and exterior trims, walls, doors, windows and ceilings; and to finish, restore and protect the natural beauty of wooden items.
Repairs and replaces or temporarily patches roof, gutters, downspouts, eaves, flashings and facias on exteriors of buildings in order to maintain their watertight integrity. Completes finished work orders and records materials used and their cost and number of hours assigned to the job.
The GMRT Senior assists the skilled craft positions with work projects consisting of demolitions, installations, retrofit work, general repairs and emergency work. Qualifications:
Licensing & Certification: Valid driver's license
Minimum Qualifications: One year of experience in two or more building trades or mechanical trades. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor such as lifting, pushing and pulling to move equipment. Must be able to climb ladders and work from scaffolding and ladders.
