General Liability Risk Coordinator

About the Role

As General Liability Risk Coordinator, you will compile facts, investigate customer injury claims and evaluate and negotiate resolutions of routine liability claims (minor to moderately severe injuries) to protect Kohl's interests.

What You'll Do

• Correspond with claimants, witnesses and internal partners to document event statements

• Investigate and verify customer injury statements and facts, compile evidence, video and claim information and document according to written procedures

• Conduct recorded statements from claimant and witnesses, as needed

• Evaluate liability based on verifiable and disputed evidence to create an action plan

• Evaluate liability to set financial reserves

• Follow written procedures to report claims that meet specific criteria to excess insurers and/or escalate claims internally

• Communicate with managers on escalated claim status and current action plans

• Deny, settle or authorize payment directly with claimant of routine customer injury claims

• Additional tasks may be assigned

What Skills You Have

Required

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience

• Investigation experience or mindset

• Customer service experience and skills

• Ability to navigate complex situations

• Good presentation, written and oral communication skills

• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask

• Detail-oriented

• Proficiency in database and processing software, Excel, Word and similar systems

• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills

Preferred

• 1-2 years of insurance claims handling or adjacent experience

• Basic understanding of general liability and insurance claims

• Working knowledge of and experience in the investigation and resolution of injury complaints

• Experience with a national Insurance carrier and/or self-insured company

• Experience using RisKonnect or other Risk Management Information System

• Retail experience
