Zurich is currently seeking an experienced claims professional to support the management team; coach and develop claims professionals; conduct claims file audits and provide feedback and recommend action plans; track and report on activity towards team goals and objectives; participate in special project and initiatives that align with the Claims organizational strategy.

As a Team Lead, you will be recognized as a technical subject matter expert and provide consultation, problem solving and resolution to Claims Professionals as well as internal and external contacts of Zurich North America that are involved in the claims cycle. Developing and fostering strong internal and external partnerships across functional areas as well as brokers, vendors and customers is critical to ZNA's customer-led philosophy/approach.

You are expected to be an ambassador of change by identifying, developing, recommending and supporting opportunity areas in claims processes and/or systems that lead to enhancements or improvements in the claims handling experience.

We prefer that this position be aligned with the Atlanta office, but will also consider Schaumburg, Dallas, Rancho Cordova, Overland Park or Parsippany office locations.

Occasional travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of Liability Claims Handling experience including General Liability claims

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of Liability Claims Handling experience including General Liability claims

OR

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6 or more years of Liability Claims Handling experience including General Liability claims
  • AND
  • Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
  • Microsoft Office experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of experience in GL claims handling

  • Mentoring, training or other leadership experience

  • Experience with change management

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment and across work groups

  • Presentation skills

  • Problem solving skills

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To process low level general liability claims to determine benefits due; to ensure ongoing adjudication of claims within company standards and industry best practices; and to identify subrogation of claims and negotiate settlements with general supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES * Processes low level general liability claims by gathering information to determine liability exposure; assigns reserve values to claims, making claims payments as necessary, and settling claims up to designated authority level. * Develops and coordinates low level general liability claims' action plans to resolution, return-to-work efforts, and approves claim payments. * Approves and processes assigned claims, determines benefits due, and administers action plan pursuant to the claim or client contract. * Administers subrogation of claims and negotiates settlements. * Communicates claim action with claimant and client. * Ensures claim files are properly documented and claims coding is correct. * May process low-level lifetime medical and/or defined period medical claims which include state and physician filings and decisions on appropriate treatments recommended by utilization review. * Maintains professional client relationships. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES * Performs other duties as assigned. * Supports the organization's quality program(s). * Travels as required. QUALIFICATION Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Experience Two (2) years of claims management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience or successful completion of Claims Representative training required.
