Position Summary
The AP/Payroll Specialist is responsible for entering invoices and processing cheque runs. Process payroll for the organization, ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time. Maintain payroll records, calculate taxes, and prepare reports for management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Verifying the accuracy of timecards/timesheets, per company policies.
Ensuring timecards/timesheets are input in a timely and accurate manner.
Processing payroll and verifying the accuracy of gross amounts and deductions.
Issuing pay and transmitting payroll with deadlines.
Preparing and reconciling related payroll accounts in the general ledger for wire transfers, internet payments, journal vouchers, and cheque requisitions.
Administering and monitoring proper payment of various payroll benefits.
Maintaining, filing, and recording all benefit-related payments, payroll transactions, listings, and reports. This includes month-end reports and union payments.
Administering accounts payable entry
Ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors
Monitoring purchasing and invoicing and ensuring adherence to company policies.
Working with accounting for the completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting.
Reconciliation work related to vendor statements, AP ledgers, and expense reports.
Support for annual audit work.
Related work as assigned.
Typical Physical Demands
Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient for working in an office environment and to travel.
Typical Working Conditions
Site office environment with general field duties as required. Occasional evenings and weekends.
Education and Experience
Communication
Computer Skills
Minimum 2 years of related experience.
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
