General Laborer

Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking to fill General Labor positions with qualified, capable individuals to join our team at our The Dalles, OR facilities. We have two production facilities located in The Dalles, Oregon, specifically dedicated to processing cherries. The facilities are equipped with advanced sorting and pitting equipment, enabling us to efficiently process large volumes of cherries while maintaining strict quality standards. We take our environmental responsibility seriously and have implemented a number of eco-friendly practices at the facilities, such as water conservation measures and use energy-efficient lighting and equipment to reduce our carbon footprint. Our facilities are an important part of the Pacific Northwest's agricultural industry and play a key role in the production of high-quality cherry products for consumers around the world.

As a General Laborer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to sorting, washing, packing, and labeling produce. The job requires standing for long periods, working in fast-paced environment, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. These positions are part of a seniority based collective bargaining unit.

Primary job duties would include:

• Pre-brine fruit and fill containers.

• Make and palletize boxes, cases, drums, pails and/or finished products.

• Pack and/or unpack materials and finished product.

• Dump, sample, and wash pails, totes, drums, barrels, and/or boxes.

• Scale and fill pails, boxes, totes, drums etc.

• Inspect and receive shipping materials and packages.

• Sanitize drum tops, and secure onto drums.

• Apply hand labels.

• Clean production areas; put materials away, sweep, clean-up syrup spills, etc.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard free work area.

• Perform other duties and assignments as directed.

• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Physically capable of performing all general labor jobs and requirements.

• Ability to become respirator certified to work with or near brine, and/or other fumes.

• Demonstrates excellent safety record and follows all good manufacturing practices.

Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activity includes walking, bending, standing, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., touching, reaching, gripping, finger dexterity, and hearing. Moderate physical activity may include stooping, color identification, close vision, and depth perception. Under strenuous conditions, employees are still expected to perform their job requirements in a safe manner. Must be able to work overtime if needed.

Environmental Factors

Working conditions include exposure to plant temperature extremes, dampness, humidity, fumes, and high noise levels. Work requires wearing proper protective equipment. Incumbent may work with or around machinery and/or in a crowded area.
