Job Description

General Labor 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m. $9.25/hour- Detroit, MI - The General Labor position is responsible for tasks such as sorting, compiling, stuffing and packing on the production floor of an industrial printing company. Must have great attention for detail and ability to work in a team environment.

Duties: Sorting, filing, copying, compiling, and stuffing paperwork and mailings.



Requirements:

-MUST be willing to accept temporary assignments lasting 1 day to 6 months.

-Must have reliable transportation.

-Must be able to work 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m..

-Must be able to work with short notice - may be called in on the same day with as little as one hour of notice.

-Must have High School Diploma or GED.

-Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours.

-Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, climb, and lift up to 30 pounds.

-This job requires (or may require) a criminal background check. Convictions and pending felony charges are not an absolute bar to employment and will only be considered if required by law or there is a substantial relationship to the circumstances of the particular job or if bond ability is at issue.

Pay: $9.25/hour

VIEW JOBS 9/19/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-12-18T00:00 Position Summary: It is the responsibility of the Labor Relations Specialist, in conjunction with the Director (Sr. HRBP), to ensure a work environment that is free from harassment and discrimination and in compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws and regulations while providing excellent guest service. All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances, as well as department and Company policies, practices, and procedures, within the framework and intent of the MGM Grand Detroit Mission Statement. Essential Functions: * Administers policies and procedures designed to increase the effectiveness of labor relations and improve relationships between management and hourly team members. Makes recommendations on policies to Director. * Provides guidance, counsel, and instruction for management in the administration of human resources policies and procedures, to include all team member-related problems relative to attendance, seniority, work performance, discipline, and proper corrective action. Ensures that all federal, state, and local laws are followed and consistently applied throughout the property. * Provides counseling and guidance to team members on labor relations issues and investigates all team member allegations of discrimination, sexual harassment, or any questionable behavior. Under guidance of Director, recommends disciplinary action to include verbal, written, and separation. * Conducts sensitive, confidential investigations related to code of conduct, policy violations, or formal charges from NLRB, EEOC, or other government agency. Under guidance of the Director, makes recommendations as to appropriate action. Assists Company legal counsel in preparation of legal defense. * Provides formal and informal training for management/supervisory staff on the collective bargaining agreement; applicable laws; policies and procedures; discipline and discharge; and federal, state, and local laws. * Creates and maintains all required documentation in compliance with state, federal and local regulations, as well as company policy. Verifies all form and documents for accuracy, completeness, and correct dates. * Maintains a high level of integrity and strict standard of confidentiality in handling sensitive Company or team member information, reports, and correspondence. * Acts as a liaison between management, team members, and outside organizations regarding the Team Member Assistance Program. * Monitors all paper and electronic forms to ensure compliance to human resources policy, such as separations, counseling notices, leaves of absence, performance improvement plans, unemployment claims, etc. * Promotes and maintains the highest level of customer service to all guests while staying alert to their needs. * Responds effectively to guest inquiries related to MGM Grand Detroit and the downtown Detroit area providing excellent guest service. * Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise refers the matter to management. Notifies manager and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * 21 years of age or older. * Bachelors Degree in human resources, labor relations, business management or related field. Master's degree preferred. * One year labor/employee relations experience. Experience in the gaming/hospitality industry preferred. * Direct work experience in the collective bargaining process, including understanding of union organization process, contract negotiations, grievance handling, and labor & management relationships. * Experience in interviewing employees and investigating employee-related situations. * Thorough knowledge of human resources practices and procedures. * Strong working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations including but not limited to FMLA, ADA, OSHA, NLRA, Title VII/Civil Rights Act, Taft-Hartley, Michigan Workers' Compensation and Unemployment, etc. * Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access and Power Point and Microsoft Project. * Strong keyboarding and typing skills. * Excellent guest service and hospitality skills. * Strong problem solving and listening skills. * Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Bilingual abilities preferred. * Ability to work in an environment where pipe, cigar, and cigarette smoking is permitted. * Ability to handle and maintain confidential information. * Ability to multi-task several activities and duties simultaneously. * Ability to function and act independently. * Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral. * Ability to function in a fast paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines. * Ability to work a flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and holidays. * Obtain/maintain Michigan Gaming Control Board Level 2 Occupational License.
