Job Description:

The Production Operator is the front-line employee who performs the manufacturing processes that add value and quality to the inputs and create the final high-quality final products. There are a variety of sub-classifications within the Operator job family that could range in specific duties from receiving and handling the raw materials, adding value through a variety of proprietary processes, to packaging the final product. In all stages of production safety, attention to detail, a quality and sanitation focus, and efficiency are key to the success of the operation.

HOURS: 3PM - 11:30PM

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years of manufacturing and industrial machine operations experience

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to follow manufacturer's specifications and directions

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 18 years or older

  • Able to trouble shoot mechanical problems

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Work in cold and/or hot temperatures throughout the day

  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Ensures a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions and possess basic mathematical skills

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge in their functions and ability to troubleshoot and fix system issues is preferred

  • Self-Reliant and able to accurately work under limited supervision

  • Communicates work order progress to supervisor and production operators

  • Customer focused and able to work in a collaborative team

  • Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule

  • Knowledge of various pieces of high tech manufacturing processing and packaging equipment. Examples include but not limited to baggers, palletizers and cookers.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.

You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, a respirator or dust mask, protective footwear and protective clothing or uniforms. Work may be performed in cold and/or hot temperatures and the environment can be dusty. Physical requirements further include the ability to engage in productive and collaborative communication with co-workers and work may need to be performed during non-standard hours, including nights and weekends. At times, the ability to work overtime also may be required. The ability to perform these requirements is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Items are placed on pallets and completed orders are moved to the loading dock staging area with an electric pallet jack / forklift, wrapped, labeled and readied for shipment in a timely manner observing all safety regulations and ensuring all quality standards are met while maintaining the efficient flow of product through the production process. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duties assigned to best serve the company. Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies and procedures per company guidelines. Ensure work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately. Review work schedule, obtain supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations. Perform a safety check on pallet jack / forklift to be used and insure that all other safety devices are functioning properly. Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear. Meet required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines. Place pallets on pallet jack and operate along assigned multi-level racks and locate products according to order sheets. Manually place the appropriate stock items on pallet from pick slots and racks as required. Use single and/or double pallets as directed. Transport completed palletized customer order to shipping dock staging area. May be required to shrink-wrap pallet for staging. Remove batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries, or attach re-charger and complete vehicle inspection checklist. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position. Able to stand, walk, reach and lift repeatedly throughout shift. Able to lift, stack, and/or pull products off shelves, as well as replenish product, from various heights weighing between 10-35 pounds and generally up to between approximately 60 and 90 pounds, depending on the location, throughout shift. Able to work in multi-temperature environments, i.e. cooler, freezer and dry. Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma/GED or State Approved Equivalent. 6-12 months warehouse and/or distribution work experience.
