Overview

Assists in operation of packaging equipment, inspects product, fills feed trays, assembles boxes, packs product into cases, stacks filled cases on pallets for shipping and performs other duties as needed to ensure continuous operation of a product filling/packaging line. This position may be rotated on all lines within the department.

Responsibilities

• Assembles boxes/cases for packing product(s) as needed.

• Packs finished product into cases.

• Manually stacks filled cases in prescribed manner for shipping.

• Visually inspects product for quality defects and removes defective product.

• Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety, and productivity in the plant area.

• Provides support for the machine operator in maintaining continuous production.

• Performs duties on all lines in packaging as necessary.

• Assists other General helpers and Machine Operator positions as needed.

• Works cooperatively with other members of the packaging line.

• Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.

• Performs other duties / responsibilities as assigned by management.

• This position is designated as a Qualified Individual responsible for Preventive Controls as trained.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment requiring repetitive work preferred.

• Basic mechanical aptitude is helpful.

• Ability to work well with others.

• High School Diploma or GED

Working Conditions/Environment

Works in an office and manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read, hear, sit, stand, walk, and occasionally bend while moving about the facility. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, and risk of electrical shock. The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors and moving parts/equipment. The noise level in the plant is loud and moderate in the office. Earplugs, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists), safety glasses, & slip-resistant I steel-toed shoes are required in the plant in accordance with company GMP and safety standards. Must be able to move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand for an 8-12-hour shift (sometimes longer) with regular breaks while performing repetitive work. May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
