MasTec North America, Inc. is a leading national infrastructure construction company operating throughout the United States. MasTec Utility Service Groups activities include the installation, maintenance and upgrade of communication and utility infrastructure, including but not limited to: communications, electrical and natural gas distribution infrastructure.
We are currently seeking General Foremen. Qualified candidate will schedule, coordinate, and supervise foremen and crew employees. This may involve supervising more than one trade group to include subcontractors, i.e. electricians carpenters, etc. working in a particular construction area (civil, structural, electrical). In addition, must be capable of and prepared to perform the duties of every level from Groundman to Foreman.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide supervision and planning in the successful completion of specific projects. This includes determining the method of construction, manpower, equipment and material needed, quality control, coordination with others involved from the company or other contractors, compliance with company specifications, ensure completion of the job(s) with quality and timeliness, and provide management with proper, timely and complete job documentation and project updates as required.
Must have an understanding of basic and advanced electrical principles, possess a working knowledge of customers specifications, be proficient in all phases of underground line construction, be capable of operating equipment necessary to complete jobs, i.e. bucket truck, digger, back hoe, and trencher, etc. Must ensure that both he/she and all employees under his/her supervision comply with proper safety standards/ procedures and work practices according to MasTec or the customer, whichever standard is higher. Must be prepared to remain on the job regardless of weather conditions and length of time, i.e. storm restoration work.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly responsible for all personal actions and any personnel, vehicles, or equipment in their care, custody or control. Responsible for verification of the competency of all assigned personnel.
Ensure all assigned personnel receive appropriate craft and safety training. Perform periodic safety audits for all assigned crews. Report all personal & vehicle accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors, cooperate and assist in the investigations of same.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or GED certificate preferred. Advanced training in electrical principles would be an asset. Must have a working knowledge and supervisory experience in underground distribution systems and construction.
Requirements: Valid drivers license must obtain a CDL class A drivers license within 30 days of employment. Pre-employment drug screen test is mandatory. OSHA 30 hour course is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting up to 50 lbs. Requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level, working in confined spaces, or working in a bucket.
