Looking for a rewarding Teacher position in special education? Brook Lane Health Services is seeking a full-time Teacher to work in our school, Laurel Hall. Brook Lane is a leading provider of mental health treatment and education in the region.

Provides educational services within the classroom setting in accordance with the guidelines set forth by MSDE and Residential Treatment Program. Prepares and delivers appropriate lesson plans that motivate and challenge students according to their academic ability. Actively involves students in the learning process. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the therapeutic program within the educational program. Sets an example for students by displaying an appropriate attitude of professionalism including: respectfulness, courteousness, responsibility, and enthusiasm.

Key Responsibilities

• Implements delivery of services as indicated by IEP, PEP, curriculum or treatment plan

• Preparing assignments and materials previous to each class session

• Provides instruction in home school subjects.

• Provides ongoing student evaluations to determine if objectives are being met

• Maintains classroom order, appearance and organization

• Establishes therapeutic relationships with students

• Provides accurate and relevant documentation in the student record

• Provides ongoing student evaluations to determine if objectives are being met.

• Provides an ongoing record of each student's attendance in school.

• Demonstrates understanding of behavior management and techniques.

• Provides feedback to Treatment team regarding student's functioning within the classroom.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Valid Maryland Educator Certificate in one or more of the following areas: English grades 7-12, Mathematics grades 7-12, Sciences 7-12, Social Studies 7-12 and/or Professional and

Technology Education grades 7-12. If certified in one area, willing to complete endorsements in other areas listed.

1 year teaching experience and 1 year experience working with at risk youth experiencing behavioral and mental health conditions.
