As General Counsel, you will be a member of the IXL Leadership team, providing counsel and guidance to support the strategic growth and direction of the company.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Direct all aspects of legal affairs at IXL including data privacy and security, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, employment and litigation
Risk management with a proactive ability to identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
Provide solution oriented legal advice to guide product development
Stay current on applicable laws, advising leaders on legislative and regulatory changes affecting the products or business
Lead the defense of the organization in lawsuits and the prosecution of lawsuits on behalf of IXL against others
Ensure that all company communications, contracts, documents, filings and press releases undergo a legal review
Provide guidance and counsel to management on business transactions and initiatives
Conduct due diligence for potential mergers, acquisitions or strategic partnerships. Draft and review legal documents related to these transactions, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risks
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
JD degree from an accredited law school
California Bar admission in good standing
10+ years of legal experience gained in mid to large law firms and/or as in-house General Counsel or Associate General Counsel preferably in the education or technology industry
Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, labor law, data privacy and security, compliance, M&A, etc), with expertise in California law a plus
In-depth understanding of how legal issues affect organizations
Ability to develop legal strategy and objectives
High degree of professional ethics and integrity
Excellent judgment and analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to anticipate legal issues or risks and to advise accordingly
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The base salary range for this full-time position is $450,000 to $600,000 + equity + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
