General Assignment Reporter

The Gadsden Times, www.gadsdentimes.com, part of the USA Today Network is seeking a part-time general assignment reporter to join our team and help provide comprehensive and insightful news coverage to the vibrant community of Gadsden, Alabama.

Responsibilities:

• News Gathering: Conduct thorough research, interviews, and on-the-ground reporting to gather information on a diverse range of topics, events, and issues.

• Writing: Produce clear, engaging, and accurate news articles that inform and engage our audience. Articles may cover local news, community events, human interest stories, and more.

• Multimedia Integration: Collaborate with our multimedia team to incorporate photos, videos, and interactive elements into your stories, enhancing the overall storytelling experience.

• Community Engagement: Build relationships within the community, attend events, and stay attuned to local concerns to ensure comprehensive and relevant coverage.

• Adaptability: Be flexible in covering breaking news, events, and assignments as they arise, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Strong writing and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.

• Previousexperience in journalism, reporting, or related fields is advantageous.

• Knowledge of Gadsden and the ability to understand and report on local issues.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

• Proficiencyin digital media tools, social media platforms, and basic photo/video editing skills.

• Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends.
