General Accounting Internship

Essential Duties and Rssponsibilities:

Accounting

• Scan various types of client documents (e.g. bank statements, investment statements, deposit slips, bills, etc.)

• Perform original recording of transactions into accounting system

• Prepare bank reconciliations;

• Generate monthly profit and loss statements for review by the account manager

• Prepare fixed assets and depreciation schedules, and any other requested schedules for tax return preparer.

Attest

• Set up new client in Engagement software (e.g. workpaper template structure & linking of financial statements)

If existing client, rollover client in Engagement software

• Input client's trial balance into the Engagement trial balance

• Update fixed assets and depreciation schedules

• For audit engagements, perform detailed testing on assigned areas

• For audit engagements, complete audit programs and/or checklists assigned by senior accountant or manager

• For review engagements, set up analytical review work papers

• For review engagements, complete checklists assigned by senior accountant or manager

Other

• Assist with internal non-chargeable projects (e.g. revamping Engagement workpaper mapping & linking of financial statements)

General Expectations:

• Become familiar with the Firm's policies and procedures

• Assist professional staff in performing bookkeeping services for clients

• Assist professional staff in preparing work papers, trial balances, fixed assets and depreciation schedules, and entering data into computer applications for attest engagements

• Assist professional staff in gathering data for tax return preparation.
