Northrop Grumman is seeking a Sr. Principal Communications Professional to join our team in defining the future. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Services support team supporting operations at our Roy, UT campus. This position will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide and virtual private networks (VPN).

  • Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

  • May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.

  • Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

  • Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.

  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.

  • May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages.

  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field.

  • General knowledge of other related disciplines.

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with engineering users, other network administrators, system administrators and computer/facility organizations. Multi-tasking with good communication skills; both verbal and written are a must.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 9 Years of related experience; Master Degree and 7 years; or Ph.D. and 4 years. Four years of additional related experience may be substituted in lieu of a completed degree

  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance and ability to maintain the clearance

  • Ability to be cleared to special access programs

  • DoD 8570 training and certifications (Cisco and Security certification) or ability to obtain certifications within 6-months

  • Knowledge and experience with TCP/IP

  • Knowledge and experience with LAN concepts such as VLANs, trunking, and spanning-tree

  • IP addressing design and subnets

  • Knowledge and experience with Cisco hardware.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Experience using test equipment such as protocol analyzers and cable test sets.

  • Knowledge of government grade encryption gear such as (TACLANES).

  • Knowledge of classified network design is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good project management skills.

  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.

  • Willingness to work after hours and weekends as required

This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. The Project Test Engineer (PTE) is responsible for the coordination and liaison between the design, fabrication, and test teams throughout the entire wind tunnel campaign lifecycle to characterize the GBSD launch vehicle environments to including staging. The Project Test Engineer assists with technical planning and development of Statements of Work (SOW) to derive the most efficient test execution plan. They are involved with all aspects of the effort, including project planning, estimating, instrumentation selection, procurement, shipping, transportation, and all other tasks needed to meet the test requirements. A critical aspect of the position is coordinating with the model designers and stress engineers to ensure the proper test setup and the acquisition of high quality data, which is the ultimate product of the project. The Project Test Engineer is the primary point of contact for coordination with internal customers and test facilities as well. Upon traveling to offsite test facilities, the Project Test Engineer then becomes the Test Conductor for the duration of the test. Detailed documentation of all design, fabrication, and test decisions, challenges, and lessons learned are summarized by the Project Test Engineer in posttest reports and summaries. Candidate must also prepare presentations that convey project status and assures challenges are communicated to leadership as needed, along with contributing towards the department's technical tools and resources.
