What your job will be like:
As a Detector Engineer at Jefferson Lab, you will work on gaseous detectors and their support systems in experiments and testing setups. The engineer will work with university collaborators, design staff, physicists, and technicians in support of ground-breaking scientific discovery and detector technology.
In this role you will...
Perform as the detector engineer on gaseous detector components and their associated systems employed in Hall A and C's experimental setups such as power supplies, design consult, safety documentation, testing, and electronics.
Work with other Hall A and C engineers, scientists and technicians in designing, analyzing, fabricating, installing, testing and commissioning components or systems supporting gaseous detectors.
Support procurement and fabrication of components and assemblies.
Document work in analysis reports, test reports, and technical notes. Present results at internal reviews, and appropriate technical conferences.

Experience working on gaseous detectors especially gaseous electron multiplier (GEM) detectors
Experience with developing test setups for specific hardware, gas or electrical troubleshooting
Familiarity with other detector systems (e.g. gas Cherenkov detectors, calorimeters, etc.) and general electrical troubleshooting skills would be beneficial
