South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) is looking for students to participate in our 2019 co-op program. Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge in the field of Gas Utility Operations that will prepare them to compete for entry-level, professional positions in the utility industry upon graduation. The program's goal is to attract, develop, and retain high-potential college students. Upon graduation and successful completion of our program, the student may be eligible for consideration for a full-time position in one of SCE&G's core business units.
2019 co-op positions are available in Columbia and Charleston.
Selected students will gain Utility knowledge in the following areas based upon the student's area of interest and business need:
Planning and designing for new metering and regulating stations on gas transmission and distribution systems
Preparation of station design drawings and other gas system related CAD drawings
Reviewing equipment and components from external vendors for suitability in gas applications
Supporting installation of gas metering and/or regulating facilities
Prepare plans and procedures for natural gas system projects using AutoCad, GIS and Microsoft Office computer software. Projects include new pipeline projects, pipeline system improvement projects and service pipeline replacement projects
Project administration duties including managing project schedules, budgets and providing status reports
Field Operations supporting engineering specialists and engineers performing a variety of functions to include overseeing gas facility installations and operations related activities
Students must be available to travel and work outside of normal business hours throughout the SCE&G Gas service territory
Must be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable means of transportation.
Must have strong computer skills and good oral and written communication skills.
