Gardener, Grounds Maintenance maintains turn and landscaping on company grounds by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for grounds maintenance of the Casino areas by maintaining turf and landscaping of company grounds.
Mows grass, applies fertilizer, applies chemicals for weed and pest control, installs and maintains sprinkler systems, plants and cares for landscaping and turf, and adjusts and makes minor repairs on all maintenance equipment.
Read work orders or receive instructions from Facilities Manager/Supervisor.
Operate vehicles and powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, Forklift vehicle, blowers, chain saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing thatch, or trimming or edging around flower beds, walks, or walls.
Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers, or axes.
Sharpen tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
Make minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower and spreaders.
Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws.
Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Water lawn and shrubs.
Ensures that assigned work area is maintained in a safe condition.
Must be able to work on-call and overtime when necessary.
Must be available to work all shifts as needed.
Additional duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager/Supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Qualified individuals must be able to regularly stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Regularly required to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms and/or legs. Must be able to regularly lift, push, pull, move and/or carry up to 25lbs and frequently up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to work in smoking environment areas.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified individual must have sufficient knowledge of plant cultivation, use of fertilizers, etc. to work with minimum supervision and to exercise independent judgment within prescribed limits. Must have Valid CA Driver's License.
