Amazon Game Studios is looking for an exceptionally skilled and enthusiastic generalist Game Designer who bleeds passion and screams quality. In this role you will be responsible for designing maps, features, and game balance for a mobile first multiplatform core-game. The ideal candidate has a proven track record designing and building competitive multiplayer mobile games as well as PC and/or console development experience. You have deep technical knowledge of game design theory, tools pipelines and software packages. You possess strong communication skills and production sensibilities in all aspects of the production process. You have the talent to produce and implement the highest quality work and can convert design direction into stellar results. You communicate and take calculated risks to invent and are driven to make the best games in the world. You'll be sharing your hard-earned knowledge while working within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team of designers, artists, programmers, and PMs as you continue to thrive by learning from your teammates.

Day to day you'll work with your team to create and implement engaging game play mechanics, prototype new and exciting features, be an advocate for the customer, and wear multiple hats. You will design and analyze game mechanics and loops that meet the direction and pillars of the game, and you will dive deep into the details of successful games and will break down what makes them work.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the design and creation of an amazing mobile 1st title

  • Implement and/or prototype gameplay mechanics

  • Implement and/or prototype map designs

  • Model and tune game systems using Microsoft Excel

  • Write copy, names, and narrative elements using Microsoft Word

  • Write features and technical specs using Microsoft Word

  • Read and analyze analytics data to understand and tune the game

Requirements: * Experience with level design and character balancing * Passion for crafting amazing gaming experiences on mobile platforms! * 3+ years of game design experience within casual and/or mobile space with shipped titles. * Experience with freemium/F2P design, including microtransactions and social features. * Ability to work effectively by yourself and as a collaborator in a larger design team. * Technical background is a plus (fluency in tools, scripting, and programming languages). * Strong creative ideas and imagination, working within an overall game vision. * Solid understanding of gameplay mechanics and systems. * Creative, analytical and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to write and maintain appropriate design documentation throughout the game's life cycle. * Affinity for the casual games audience, and an appreciation of its different player types, motivations, needs and lifestyles. * Knowledge of game industry, trends, competition, platforms and market. * Proven ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team environment. * An organized and detail-oriented approach to design and authoring. * A fresh brain, ready to entertain the world with humor, fun, surprises, challenges, and delight.
