Job Overview
Under the direction of the Director, Financial Reporting, the Manager, GAAP Financial Reporting is responsible for oversight of the GAAP financial reporting function, which includes reporting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for a complex organizational structure including Medicaid, Medicare, Long Term Support Services, Health Insurance Exchange, Pharmacy Benefit Management, Third Party Administrator and other lines of business with consolidated revenues in excess of $22 billion.
Work Arrangement
Responsibilities
Manages the timely and accurate production of financial reports for external stakeholders, including consolidated and standalone GAAP basis reporting (quarterly and annual audited), annual audited employee benefit plan statements, certain state regulatory agency required filings (quarterly and annual), credit facility reporting, and certain periodic reporting to Company investors
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable reporting requirements
In collaboration with the Technical Accounting Manager, responsible for capturing the effects of new GAAP accounting standards within the applicable financial statements and related disclosures and all correlated implementation related activities
Oversight over the implementation and integration of new business (acquisition/organic growth) as it relates to GAAP financial reporting and related stakeholder reporting requirements
Maintains internal controls over financial reporting
Responsible for the professional development of departmental management and staff
Responsible for execution and oversight of special projects and other appropriate duties as directed
Experience
Minimum one (1) year supervisory/ management experience
Minimum five (5) years progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
Experience in public accounting firm strongly preferred
Insurance industry experience preferred
Education
Skills & Abilities
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, the initiative to self-start, the willingness and ability to work at a high level of productivity, strong managerial and analytical abilities, and the ability to relate well to co-workers and others
Experience with PeopleSoft, Hyperion or similar ERP system preferred
Proficiency with Workiva wDesk required
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Powerpoint
Experience in the preparation of annual audited financial statements and related disclosures required
Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the application thereof required
