ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Directing task furnace operators and coordinating transfer of homogenized material to forging furnaces.

• Operate all heating and soaking furnaces associated with the press facility.

• Work from schedules, mill orders, and written and oral instructions to operate press furnaces to soak and/or heat material for conversion in a safe and economical manner.

• Be familiar with and capable of performing every aspect of operating furnaces such as lighting, fuel selection, minimum and maximum controllable temperature, maximum rate of rise, maximum furnace load, minimum clearance from doors and walls, etc.

• Acquire and maintain general working knowledge of the deviation limitation of particular materials and use good judgment in operating furnaces so these limitations will not be exceeded.

• Maintain all logs and complete all paperwork in conjunction with soaking or heating. Maintain identity by means of maps or charts of material loaded in furnaces at all times.

• Assist in the performance of setup and maintenance duties as necessary. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Detect and report any improper condition, defective material or unusual condition to proper supervision.

• Record forging observations using paper or e-log, including FOE, temp, on and off die sizes, off die temp, size codes, etc.

NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Perform other duties as required or directed.

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED required

• Required to pass IME screening

• Requires up to and including 3 months experience

• Knowledge of a variety of office routines, elementary accounting procedures.

• Familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing software applications, equivalent to high school plus additional specialized courses.
