This position is part of the City of Memphis VISTA program. Our mission is to strengthen organizations that alleviate poverty through volunteering and the mobilization of resources.

The Development/Fundraising Coordinator VISTA Member will build the capacity of Shelby Literacy Center to reach our low-literacy middle schoolers, ESOL adults and families. As a result of the VISTA Member's service, Shelby Literacy Center will be able to provide individualized, personal literacy support to families in areas where services are accessible, with high quality curriculum and measurable growth, regardless of family income. Member Duties : The VISTA Member will build the capacity of Shelby Literacy Center by providing/implementing literacy and life skills, creating systems, practices and materials for a new organizational fundraising unit, donor communications, and annual fundraising event sponsorships. SLC will benefit our low literacy middle schoolers, ESOL adults and families through individualized, personal literacy support and small-group learning to families in areas where services are accessible, with high quality curriculum and measurable growth, regardless of family income.
