Sr. Associate, Fund Accounting - Hedge Funds Team Overview:

Were looking for a team member who will work closely with internal and external stakeholders. Thus, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are a necessity. The right Sr. Associate candidate has a degree and experience in accounting and has an interest in fund / alternative investment accounting. The Sr. Associate has a keen eye for details, is ready and eager to learn and take on more responsibility and isnt afraid of monthly deadlines. Our Sr. Associates are the backbone to what we do they review Associates work, mentor others and perform the actual accounting functions for 5 10 clients, including reconciling cash, reviewing expenses and fees, preparing NAV reporting, drafting financial statements and footnotes, assisting external auditors during audits and much more. This ideal candidate is eager to learn what we do and how we do it, then make suggestions to improve the process!

Responsibilities these are the key responsibilities for the position:

  • Maintaining the books and records for a portfolio of hedge fund and family office clients
  • Perform trade entry/processing
  • Perform detailed trial balance reconciliation monthly, including reconciling asset positions to custodian records and creating supporting documentation
  • Security master maintenance
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of all monthly client activity
  • Perform Month end close of portfolios, NAV calculation and shareholder statement processes.
  • Communicate with audit/tax firms throughout the year and at year end to prepare GAAP financial statements
  • Liaison with and provide reports as needed to investment managers
  • Review the work of associates/accountants and give feedback
  • Provide work direction to staff associates/accountants as needed and develop skills necessary to progress to Fund Accounting Manager role

Requirements

Required:

  • The desired candidate will have a bachelors or masters degree in accounting and be detail oriented, organized and able to manage various engagements and their deadlines.
Preferred:
  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Experience with investment fund auditing or accounting

Also, experience in fund accounting is essential for the day-to-day job, including helping to prepare and review client deliverables.
