What you'll do

Management of system level functional safety activities within the context of mechatronic AWD product development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and tracing of safety relevant system development activities following ISO 26262 safety lifecycle and preparation of customized system safety plan.

  • Setup of technical safety concept including system safety requirements in close cooperation with the Functional Safety Manager for ECU HW and SW.

  • Supporting the customer Safety Manager with

  • Setup of development interface agreement (DIA)

  • Definition of project specific work products and responsibilities

  • Performing of Hazard analysis and risk assessment,

  • Setup of functional safety concept

  • Safety Validation on vehicle level (e.g. define test cases for customer vehicle testing)

  • Compilation of customer internal safety case.

  • Planning of internal and external resources to ensure that all required safety activities can be covered during safety lifecycle.

  • Planning and coordination of verification and validation measures on system and vehicle level and close cooperation with system and vehicle integration and test department.

  • Planning and coordination of audits and assessments and definition of appropriate counter measures to fixe identified safety relevant problems.

  • Planning and organization of activities to maintain functional safety in production (e.g. EOL test, calibration process) and operation phases (e.g. field monitoring, modification process)

  • Support the system design engineer with impact analysis of system design changes on functional safety and ensure that functional safety is maintained on product level.

  • Supporting the system design within qualitative and quantitative System FMEA and FTA.

  • Compilation of ASIL dependent safety case.

  • Supporting the SW PEM within system release recommendation / approval process (usage restriction)

About you

Required Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar
  • 2+ years of experience in functional safety

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced training for IEC 61508 / ISO 26262

  • Project experience with development of safety related automotive systems and application of ISO 26262

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with customers and suppliers.

  • Proven communication, teamwork and organizational talents.

  • Willingness for occasional business trips

  • DOORS, MediniAnalyze and IQ-RM tool knowledge beneficial

The ideal candidate will have a background in embedded systems and system engineering; will have a strong interest in functional safety, and experience or academic credentials in defining security practices. The Functional Safety Engineer will work in multidisciplinary engineering teams and interface with DURA customers to develop state of the art shifters, mechatronic actuators, and advanced driver control solutions- both HMI and ADAS. * ABOUT DURA AUTOMOTIVE - ADVANCED DRIVER ASSIST SYSTEMS We are looking for an individual with a strong understanding automotive functional safety experience to help grow the Global Electronics Group at Dura Automotive. The ideal candidate will have experience in the application of ISO 26262 functional safety to driver control systems such as shift-by- wire shifters and actuators or other automotive safety systems, as well as general automotive development and launch experience involving embedded hardware / software systems. This position offers the opportunity to join a rapidly growing group and to participate in the establishing of the direction of the group. The role will involve all levels of product development from participating in strategic planning for the group, supplier / partner selection, initial concept creation and stages of development through to production launch. It will involve interfacing with a variety of groups including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and manufacturing, as well as customers and suppliers / technical partners. JOB DESCRIPTION: Dura's Functional Safety Engineer is a key contributor in ensuring product safety for our customers. The engineer will apply ISO 26262 "Road Vehicles – Functional Safety" in a multidisciplinary engineering team that is developing of state of the art shifters and actuators for advanced driver assist systems. Core responsibilities include: * Collaborate with engineering teams to develop the safety analysis and strategy at the system, hardware, and software level. * Ensure that safety plan activities meet program timing. * Align safety related topics with suppliers and customers. * Determine and analyze safety requirements. * Create the Functional and Technical Safety Concepts (FSC and TSC). * Perform the necessary safety analyses (e.g., FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA). * Define the required tests for the verification and validation of the safety requirements. * Create the Safety Case. JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Knowledge of, and experience with, failsafe concepts and strategies for safety related systems. * Experience with embedded control systems, hardware and software. * Knowledge of ISO 26262 * Experience with creation of safety documents (e.g., Safety Case, FMEA, FMEDA and FTA). STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS * Education - B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering * Experience - Minimum of 5 years of automotive experience.
