Re:Car dba SLATE, is a new US company that is exploring development in the electric vehicle space.

Who we are looking for:

Re:Car dba SLATE is looking for an energetic, organized, experienced Functional Safety Engineer to join our growing team. This engineer will support the execution of the Functional Safety lifecycle for all mechatronic and electrification developments across the organization.

What you get to do:

• Define and manage Functional Safety Requirements for various automotive systems (Cluster, Body, Restraints, VCU, etc.).

• Develop and review qualitative and quantitative functional safety analyses, including FTA, FMEA, DFA.

• Support suppliers in development of Technical Safety concepts for each vehicle ECU.

• Collaborate with internal engineers along with 3rd party suppliers to ensure system requirements and desired functionality are achieved.

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to refine/negotiate requirements to achieve a viable solution.

• Support Functional Safety Management documentation such as Safety Case, Safety Plan, CR/VR checklists, DIA.

• Support in the development of organizational processes and procedures to ensure ISO 26262.

What you bring to the team:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of Engineering from an ABET-accredited or equivalent program. Master's Degree is a plus.

• 5+ years of total experience in automotive product development, preferably with 3 of those years in a Functional Safety role.

• Experience in the specification, design, or verification of safety-related embedded control systems.

• Experience in the implementation of functional safety standards like IEC 61508, EN 13849, ISO 26262, ISO 15998, ISO 25119, IEC 62061, CENELEC EN 50126/5012/50129 and other related standards for systems, hardware, and software development like CMMI, INCOSE, ASPICE.

• Strong knowledge of systems engineering principles and ability to use this in a multi-disciplinary approach (electronics, software, mechanical hardware, hydraulics).

• Proven record of eliciting and implementing requirements from design to production.

• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, at all levels.

• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

• Effective listener and communicator.
