Purpose of Role
The Functional Expert (FE) Manager role is critical for driving and sustaining SAP and Warehouse Management System benefits of customer-centricity, cash generation, supply chain flexibility, efficiency through standardization, and quality and food safety. This role will act as the business process expert, influencing the right behaviour and driving process adherence. The FE Manager will streamline, automating where possible, and prioritize strategic improvements using a continuous improvement process. The FE manager role is cross-functional in nature and is expected to interact and influence other process areas and FE's to drive overall business efficiency, standardization and process adherence.
The role is accountable to align the function and deliver an effective and sustainable process that meets the function's objective, goals, strategy. It works closely with stakeholders to give recommendations and communicate decisions. The role owns effective communication with the entire function. The FE Manager is responsible for the recruitment, development, and assessment of their organization of Functional Experts and Functional Expert Analysts and ensuring a strong pipeline of Functional Expert candidates are being developed within the function.
Develop a rolling 5 year strategic plan for SAP process improvement. Report progress against the plan to the Supply Leadership Teams
Drive continuous improvement ideas through process and system capability to achieve SAP and Supply Chain benefits. Ensure development and prioritization of business unit requirements align with business unit Do-it-Best ambitions.
Standardize supply processes across the Functional Experts
Conduct root cause analysis for process gaps and deliver solutions addressing the gaps
Challenge and call out process adherence, influence the business functions to address
Integrate processes to support the Mars S&OP+ process as appropriate
Measure process adherence for the overall function and report to the business, providing clear accountability
Line Manager for Functional Experts and Functional Expert Analysts in Supply and Commercial
Maintain and evolve the team activity scope, including High Performance Collaboration
Assess and raise the overall team member expertise levels
Manage a healthy talent pipeline in and out of the team
Regional/Global Change Management
Review and test Global change/emergency requests for the business unit
Prioritize and develop the business unit requirements
Build and develop relationships with Regional and Global communities
Leads the implementation of Supply system application and applicable Business Processes
Documents business process changes and effectively communicates these changes to Business Leadership
Recommend strategies, programs and implement objectives to deliver desired results.
Develop and maintain proper business discipline, relationships and performance feedback mechanisms both formal and informal between Mars Business Associates and Mars IS, ensuring that quality and service are not sacrificed.
Ensure timely and accurate information is disseminated to appropriate associates
Lead business readiness assessment processes.
Responsible for quick issue resolution during testing, upgrades and rollouts.
Work cross-functionally with other Project Leaders to develop processes to reduce business costs and to provide business process improvements
Key Functional Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Managing change across functions including shared services such as Mars Information Services and Mars Financial Services
Managerial presence, interpersonal and leadership skills
Demonstrate leadership capability to drive collaboration and business results
Advanced knowledge of end to end supply chain functions, including Inbound/Outbound, Logistics, Warehouse Management, and Commercial business processes
Capable of determining functional needs from user descriptions of a business process, developing an appropriate solution and coaching the implementation of that solution through the user group.
Experience in lean process methodology to support more efficient business processes
Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating and influencing groups or individuals at all levels of the business.
Excellent organizational skills. A self- motivator; able to work independently and the ability to prioritize effectively.
Working knowledge/understanding of Mars supply chain systems (e.g. PRMS, EDI, Supplier Managed Supply, GRD, Red Prairie etc.)
Bachelor's degree or 5+ year's equivalent experience in a technical procurement or technical manufacturing role
