Responsible for cleaning in assigned areas, include rooms, hallways, & lounges. Floors are to be swept, dry mopped, wet mopped with germicidal detergent.
Rooms are to be cleaned daily, including floors, dusting,mirrors and bathroom fixtures. Windows are to be washed on the inside as needed. Wall tile in bathrooms will need to be cleaned more often as circumstances dictate. Toilet tissue and paper towels, etc., should not be permitted to accumulate in rooms.
Housekeepers are also expected to maintain the equipment they use, keeping carts clean, vacuum cleaners emptied, mops thoroughly washed and dried daily. Housekeepers are not expected to render direct patient care. If a patient becomes ill or is in need of attention, contact nursing services immediately.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Good physical and mental health.
High standards of personal hygiene. Neat and presentable in appearance. Uniforms are required.
A Tuberculin skin test is required annually. A physical is required every 4 years.
Education: No special educational requirements.
Job Knowledge: On the job training will be provided. It is expected that the employee will learn to operate the various pieces of equipment and to correctly use the cleaning supplies provided. Employees must be able and willing to follow the instruction of the supervisor.
