We are now seeking a Full-Time Correctional Food Service Worker at our Miami Co.
Correctional facility located in Peru IN.

Duties include: Meal preparation and service Cleaning of facilities and equipment Other cook related duties are expected Apportion and serve food to inmates Work is performed alongside inmate workers.
Requirements include: Availability to work weekends and holidays Ability to pass background check Ability to pass a drug screen Strong character & ability to perform well in a structured environment.

Plant Foreman 1: Responsible for supervising offender workers within the Department of Correction's Indiana Correctional Industries (ICI) operations. Operations include. but are not limited to: traditional industries, joint venture partnerships, service operations, commissary, and warehousing. To be supervised by Plant Manager. A Day In The Life: Employee follows established procedures and practices. Employee is responsible for completion of job assignments and accuracy of records, forms, reports, and technical information disseminated; therefore, errors in work or faulty judgment can cause substantial embarrassment and delays. Guidance is received from the Lead Foreman 1 or Plant Manager in determining work assignments. * Supervise offender workers in the production work of assigned shop; * Provide on-the-job training to offenders in the manufacturing, processing, and/or shipping of products; * Provide an encouraging enviornment for offenders to be registered in and to participate in all phases of the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) Apprenticeship Program. * Fulfill training according to work processes as defined by USDOL Apprenticeship occupations; * Perform or supervises the set-up and maintenance of equipment; * Provide all applicable safety training to offender workers for assigned areas of supervision; * Monitor quality control of finished goods and work being performed; * Perform related duties as assigned What We Are Looking For: * Thorough knowledge of one or more of the areas of manufacturing, including knowledge of equipment maintenance and set-up; * Ability to teach and promote workplace/operational skills to offenders including, but limited to: professionalism, team building, career development, communication, punctuality, attendance, work ethic, and critical thinking; * Ability to follow production schedules and monitor quality of work; * Ability to resolve operational problems; * Ability to supervise offenders performing work that requires exactness and accuracy, while ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with custody policy and procedure Difficulty or Work: Is given guidelines, technical manuals, and performance expectations, and is required to exercise independent judgment as necessary to supervise a shift of offenders without direct supervision. Production relates directly to shop profit, so is responsible for the quality of goods produced and staying on production schedule. Personal Work Relationships: Contacts are with the Plant Manager, Lead Foreman 1 or Material Management for guidance on production schedule, maintenance functions and quality issues. Physical Effort: Is expected to work indoors in a shop atmosphere. High manual dexterity may be necessary to teach and perform tasks. Some lifting of supplies and materials (50-lbs. maximum) may be required. Working Conditions: Majority of work is in an indoor climate control environment. Travel within Indiana may be required. Is exposed to potential danger through daily and constant offender contact.
