Mount Carmel - Hamden, CT Categories: Faculty Overview: The Department of Justice & Law in the College of Arts & Sciences at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in our Law and Society Program, beginning August 11, 2025.

We seek a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered teacher and scholar committed to excellence in teaching, research, and professional engagement. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, including Civil Procedures, as well as courses aligned with their expertise and program needs. We have a strong preference for candidates with experience teaching and researching innovative and emerging legal technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), and who can enhance our curriculum accordingly.

We welcome applicants passionate about interdisciplinary legal education and experiential learning, and who are dedicated to preparing students for success in an evolving legal landscape. The Law in Society Program is housed in the Department of Justice & Law, alongside programs in Justice and Community Engagement and Criminal Justice. Rooted in the humanities, the program offers a liberal-arts approach to the study of law and the legal system.

It also supports minors in Law in Society and Criminal Justice, as well as an American Bar Association-approved paralegal certificate. Applicants whose teaching and research transcend disciplines within the department are encouraged. About the College:

Responsibilities: Teach three courses per semester (9 credits) ranging from foundational to advanced courses in Law in Society, including our Civil Procedures course Develop courses on legal processes and legal technologies, including AI and the law, for undergraduate majors Develop and maintain an active research agenda that leads to scholarly presentations and publications Seek out external support when such support is available and can enhance the candidate’s research profile and the department’s curriculum Advise and mentor students to help them achieve their academic and career goals Engage in appropriate departmental, college, university, professional, and/or public service as relevant to the position Demonstrate a willingness to communicate information about their area of expertise with the public through interviews and other media Work collaboratively with other faculty to further develop the program, expand enrollments, enhance the curriculum, and develop and provide transformative experiences for students Foster inclusive excellence and belonging in support of a diverse community Education Requirements: A Juris Doctorate degree and bar admission in the United States Qualifications:

A record of excellent teaching or a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate student success and a philosophy of teaching that supports our value of teaching excellence Demonstrated ability to maintain or launch an active scholarly agenda Excellent verbal and written communication skills A collaborative individual who is available and willing to support colleagues PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in civil legal practice Experience with legal technology and AI Experience working and teaching in undergraduate higher education Qualified candidates are expected to live or relocate within a reasonable daily commuting distance of Quinnipiac’s Mount Carmel campus upon hire.
