Provides mental health assessment and treatment to clients with psychiatric symptoms, cognitive deficits, and/or behavioral problems. Provides support and education to VNSNY staff to enable them to better care for clients with psychiatric, cognitive and/or behavioral problems. Works under moderate supervision.
Licensure:License and current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse in NYS required. Valid driver's license may be required, as determined by operational/regional needs. Successful completion of a Psychiatric Nursing Clinical Certification program preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master's in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
Experience:Minimum two years RN experience preferred, with at least one year of medical/surgical and/or recent psychiatric mental health nursing experience required. Home care experience preferred.
A minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice in psychiatricmental health nursing within the last 3 years is preferred. Bilingual skills may be required, as determined by operational needs.
