PrimeCare Tech/Medical Assistant Job DescriptionTechs and Medical Assistants are expected to work as an integral part of the PrimeCare team, helping to provide quality care to our patients in a time-appropriate manner. The following are responsibilities, requirements, and expectations of a PrimeCare Tech or Medical Assistant:Responsibilities * Job-Specific Duties * Express critical thinking skills by asking appropriate questions and thoroughly collecting patient information (Constitutional, HPI, Medical History, Social History, etc.)* Perform rapid testing (pregnancy, strep, flu, H pylori, HbA1c, urinalysis, rapid drug screens, and any others) accurately and in a timely manner * Assist with blood draws, PFTs, I&Ds, and other procedures as required, including holding patients still during procedures * Use appropriate forms and documentation for all procedures and reporting protocols * Chart appropriately and efficiently in patients progress note * Use eCW templates effectively to help ensure accuracy and billing collections * Maintain training on drug screens and proper collection for lab processing * Manage time by taking personal initiative to complete necessary tasks and keep the provider organized and prepared to see patient(s) in each room * Display personal drive for accuracy and initiate clinical activities in order to ensure care processes are completed in the best manner for the patient * Perform other patient care activities as requested by provider * Set Others up for Success * Perform all required opening/closing duties, including stocking and cleaning patient rooms; ensure self and work station are ready when shift starts *

  • High school diploma or equivalent * Able to work evenings and weekends* FT: Work a minimum of 30 hours per week, up to 40 or above, depending on clinic needs * Excellent customer service skills * Outstanding communication skills * Ability to read and write English according to proper grammar rules * Patience, sound judgment, and discretion dealing with confidential information * Organizational and multitasking skills * Experience with computer data entryPreferred:*
  • If Medical Assistant, current MA license required * Knowledge of EHR systems * Knowledge of medical terminology, regulations, and medical office procedures * Experience taking blood pressure and measuring pulse ratesWorking Conditions & Physical RequirementsWhile performing the responsibilities of the job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the job holder will encounter: * High traffic work area, high level of patient and employee interaction * Quiet to moderate noise level from electronic/machine, telephone, and vocal noise * Moderate to high risk of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials * Very occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts * Employee will be required to speak to and listen to others * Employees will be required to process, remember, and comply with changes in processes and protocols with or without warning * Majority of time may be spent standing and walking, using hands and fingers to perform job tasks; some reaching is required; many job functions require repetitive motion * Vision abilities required to perform this job include close vision and peripheral vision * Employees will rarely be asked to lift anything above 25lbs, but may occasionally be required to team-lift a patient or help restrain a patient in the course of care * Attendance will be required at staff meetings on a monthly basis outside of regular working hours (generally, early morning)* Travel may occasionally be required to attend meetings or to cover for teammates at other locations (generally, at other PrimeCare clinic locations)* Employees are strongly encouraged to attend non-mandatory company events for marketing and team-building * Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the jobThis job has no supervisory responsibilities. Employees in this position will report to a Team Leader (if available) and the Clinic Manager. Graduate of an operating room technician, surgical technician or surgical technologist program in a Certified School of Operating Room Technology prefered. Training and Experience: One year experience surgical assisting in the operating room prefered. CPR certification preferred. Job Knowledge: Presents a professional appearance and exemplifies hospital standards of honesty and ethical behavior. DESCRIPTION: The operating room OR Tech must have a thorough knowledge of sterilization and disinfection. Surgery requires constant focused attention on the operative site. While there may be periods of relaxed activity, the surgical technologist is in motion during most of the procedure, either preparing equipment for delivery or passing instruments in the correct spatial position. At the same time, he/she must be anticipating the next step of the procedure. This requires moderate to intense levels of concentration during the procedure. He/She must be able to stand for long hours and lift 15-30 lbs. This tech will be able to accurately hand instruments to the physicians during procedures, and will assist the physician in performance of the procedure. Other responsibilities include: anticipation of the time constraints, to be prepared for procedures when needed and in a timely manner. Also, expected to assist in cleaning duties. He/She will also need to prepare cases for the following day, by utilizing physician preference cards. This OR Tech will also assist the CPD technician in the central processing department as needed. Will assist the circulating nurse as needed in transportation of the patient and/or preparation of the patient or operating room. Participates in the OR call schedule, as needed.
