The Department of Art and Design is seeking candidates for one full-time lecture position Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate drawing, painting, 2D design other 2D studio courses, and possibly Introduction to Visual Art or other studio courses; working with Chair and faculty member in charge of 2D studios to identify and apply health/safety best practices in courses and studios; studio management; collaborative curriculum and syllabi development; as well as other activities.
All faculty positions are governed by the tenets of a collective bargaining agreement.
Faculty are hired, evaluated, and retained on the basis of conditions covered in the union contract. Primary duties include teaching and related activities assigned during a 9-month year. Non-tenure track faculty report to a department chairperson or director.
Teaching: Faculty members are expected to teach 4 (6 contact hour) to 8 (3 contact hour) credit courses per year; develop syllabi, teaching materials (ability to organize, analyze and present knowledge or materials) related to courses taught; and collaborate with other faculty in the delivery of current courses and development of new courses and/or programs.
In addition, faculty manage immediate studios spaces, develop and follow health/safety protocol for students in courses, mentor students, participate in professional development activities, as well as engage in assessment activities related to accreditation and program evaluation.
Some disciplines require discipline specific certifications and/or licensure in the field for practice or functioning within the State of Illinois; degree specific course work and/or graduate degrees in the discipline.
