ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (ISEEM) at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) invites applications for a Lecturer position starting no later than August 15, 2024.

The primary duty includes teaching with a focus on industrial engineering-related courses. We are looking for strong candidates with solid methodological backgrounds in broad areas of industrial engineering, including but not limited to manufacturing, statistics, quality engineering, engineering economy, facilities layout, and human factors. This is a one-year appointment, and employment beyond that will depend upon available funding.

Applicant qualifications should include (a) a PhD in industrial engineering or a related field, (b) a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate students in a research university, and (c) an interest in teaching a variety of courses in industrial engineering. Work or research experience with application to manufacturing is also desirable.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Engineering is comprised of five departments and has the largest enrollment of the university's six academic colleges. The college's research focus includes three of several National Academy of Engineering (NAE) grand challenge problems: secure cyberspace, restore and improve urban infrastructure, and engineer tools of scientific discovery.

The Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management (ISEEM) Department offers BSIE, MSE, MSOR, and PhD degrees. The Department has an ABET-accredited undergraduate program in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Our faculty currently consists of seven tenure-track/tenured members and one clinical member. Our student body includes approximately 150 undergraduate and 180 graduate students. Our faculty's research interests include complex systems engineering and design, systems science, model-based systems engineering, incorporation of end-user models and simulations in systems, design preference communication in systems engineering, quality systems design and assessment, lean manufacturing, health systems, additive manufacturing, engineering management, applied statistics, and artificial intelligence/critiquing systems.

In 2021, the department had over $4 million in research expenditures. Rapid growth in faculty, students, and research funding is intended in this field, given the large engineering and scientific workforce of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, the Redstone Arsenal, Cummings Research Park, and other area industries.
