Responsibilities/Duties:

This position provides services to people with a broad array of disabilities, whether that be behavioral, physical, or mental health through assistance with activities of daily living, similar to Direct Care Providers and Certified Nursing Assistants, such as:

  • Errands to shopping or activities

  • Transporting to medical appointments

  • Enjoying recreational outings together

  • Preparing meals

  • Assisting with medication administration

  • Personal hygiene and grooming

  • Bathing and toileting

  • Teaching strategies to live as independently as possible

You will be directly working with them so that they can meet daily goals like making sure medications are taken; residents get the food they need and any assistances with cleaning, and finally ensuring a safe environment because this is their home. However, that is not all that you will be doing. You have the ability to create a fun environment where you can suggest an activity that helps bring a positive attitude and engagement among the residents. <br></em></p><p></p><p><em><i>This role is located in Minnetonka, MN and would cover an alternating Saturday/Sunday shift from 11:00am – 7:00pm. It is a great entry into social work for recent college grads as well as those looking to add additional value to the community. </i></em></p><p><em><em><strong>Essential Responsibilities:</strong></em></em></p><em><em> <ul> <li>Be the key point of contact during your shift and create a safe environment</li> <li><em><em>Maintain clean and safe living environment for the tenants at CIP’s adult foster care sites.</em></em></li> <li><em><em>Instill hope in residents and discuss recovery from mental illness as a goal that anyone and everyone can attain.</em></em></li> <li><em><em>Conduct community outings which can include planning of engaging events, driving, organizing and motivating residents to attend outings.</em></em></li> <li><em><em>Monitor medications that the residents are prescribed so that we continue the health of our clients where you are working with each person’s treatment plan and implementation so that they can achieve individual goals.</em></em></li> <li><em><em>Use positive problem solving skills to mitigate potential issues and be the point of intervention as needed</em></em></li> <li><em><em>Provide daily charting in staff logbook where you would make progress notes for each resident at the end of every shift.</em></em></li> <li><em><em>Assist with meal preparation, supervise/ assist with clean up and ensure that adult foster care residents have a variety of healthy foods to choose from.</em></em></li> </ul></em></em><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Credentials/Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>1+ year experience working with adults with mental illness or mental disabilities</li> <li>High school diploma/GED required, prefer college level course work or bachelor's degree</li> </ul><ul><li>Positive problem solving skills where you know how to find a win-win outcome</li></ul><ul><li>Creative mind-set to come up with engaging activities for the clients</li></ul><ul><li>An attention to detail and demonstrated experience with documenting information daily</li></ul><ul><li>Ability to maintain ongoing in-service requirements</li></ul><ul><li>Willingness to become CPR/First Aid certification, if not currently certified</li></ul><ul><li>A valid driver’s license, 21+ years of age for insurance purposes, and a clean driving record as you will be driving a company van</li></ul><ul><li>Must pass a Department of Human Services background study</li></ul><p><strong>Pay:</strong></p><p>$10.00 - $14.61/hr.</p><p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p> <p>The employee in this position typically works the majority of the time in an Adult Foster Home setting.
