The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute is the sole nonprofit organization created by President Reagan charged with advancing his legacy and principles - individual liberty, economic opportunity, freedom and democracy, peace through strength, and national pride.

The Foundation is a non-partisan organization which sustains the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, CA, the Reagan Center for Public Affairs, the Presidential Learning Center, The Air Force One Pavilion, the award-winning Discovery Center, and the Reagan Institute, which carries out the Foundation's mission in Washington, DC.

Job Description

The Curriculum Designer, a full-time position, will be our primary curriculum designer and trainer with specific oversight and management of our Learning Management System (LMS). The position will support all aspects of our digital transformation including the revision, creation, and alignment of our content to be used through the learning management system, offering support to all program managers on the team. The Curriculum Designer will deliver top quality programming and service to our partners, works with onsite programming to enrich content through best practice instructional design, and supports all areas of RRPFI when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere and contribute to the RRPFI and Reagan Education mission and goals.

  • The successful candidate must be passionate about President Ronald Reagan's legacy and principles.

  • Provides our partners with an exceptional educational experience through digital and in person engagement.

  • Digitize existing content/curriculum and create digital content/curriculum for interactive and effective virtual learning experiences.

  • Support development of game-based learning activities (digital and analog).

  • Learn about and ongoing study of museum exhibits and information needed to conduct a thorough tour of the museum.

  • Help with administrative tasks such as phone calls, mailing, filing, inventory, stocking curriculum materials, when needed.

  • Work as a team and effectively communicating with all staff and volunteers at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

  • Train new staff members and/or interns, volunteers, related to the LMS.

  • Develop activities and curriculum, use interactive board and iPad technology.

  • Learn how to deliver the Reagan Leadership Center's simulation for groups (students, corporate partners, guests).

  • Additionally, Reagan Foundation employees are often asked to work during the Library's special events (Center for Public Affairs speaker series/Sunset Dinners/Fourth of July/etc.) and expected to participate in the annual Reagan National Defense Forum held each year at the end of November/beginning of December.

  • Demonstrate expertise in digital platforms.

  • Participate and/or lead outreach (attending conferences, visiting partners, etc.) as directed by CEPO.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Teaching credential (preferred, but not required).

  • Experience designing instruction required.

  • A love of history and knowledge of Ronald Reagan's life is

  • Proficient with iOS/Apple technology, Google Docs and Zoom.

  • Willing to become the in-house expert/manager of our LMS.

  • Proven ability to think strategically, learn new skills, and adapt well to change.

  • Experience and a desire to work with a diverse population of students, teachers, parent chaperones, and volunteer docents.

  • Physical demands include frequent walking and use of stairs, as well as long periods of standing.
