Responsibilities

We are searching for a Full Time Clinical Specialist to provide clinical management and consultation at ReMed's residential programs.

Job Summary. This position provides clinical management and consultation based on training/expertise and brain injury education for brain injured clients. This role works with treatment teams on clinical and organizational issues, assists with managing operational issues and provides staff training and development.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Attends team meetings and interfaces with treatment team to establish rehabilitation goals and coordinate treatment necessary to support individual client's treatment plan.

  • Demonstrates the ability to support clients in difficult situations (e.g. refusal of activities, medications, and strategies).

  • Works directly with the client and provides minimum to maximum assistance and/or supervision to promote the client's success in achieving the identified treatment goals.

  • Monitors client's treatment plan and progress towards goals, providing problem solving, conflict resolution and revision of goals/treatment plan as necessary.

  • Meets regularly with Director to update and review clients' plan, progress and goals.

  • In consultation with the Clinical Director, identifies, collaborates, and consults with physicians and other health care providers outside of the primary treatment team.

  • Ensures the ongoing clinical development of designated sites and systems including therapeutic groups, social activities and special events.

  • Works to ensure implementation of governing policies and procedures (CARF, DPW, etc.).

  • Works to ensure the proper application of policies regarding hiring practices, disciplinary actions or termination, performance appraisals, EEO, anti-discrimination, and employee recognition.

  • Responsible for supporting orientation and training of staff in designated sites. Identifies staff training needs and coordinates resources to meet same.

  • Supports and enhances communication within designated sites (staff communication log, staff meetings, supervision and feedback, rounds, etc.).

  • Keeps staff updated of changes in company policies, procedures or other program/company/clinical practice related issues.

  • Participates in "on-call" system of coverage to support client care, staff, operations and clinical emergencies (includes holidays).

  • Works with operations to identify staffing patterns, clients and budget parameters to promote fiscal responsibility.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the budget guidelines including indirect vs. direct hours, food and recreation allotments and other program related expenses.

  • Monitors and ensures the timely submission of all required documentation by designated staff (e.g., monthly client billing session notes, log notes and monthly progress notes).

  • Ensures effective and efficient scheduling of staff in collaboration with Site Manager to meet client and program needs based on program budget, client hour grid, payroll grid, and staff competencies.

  • Maintains standards of cleanliness, maintenance and other health and safety related requirements.

  • Responsible for the clinical integrity of all clinical documentation through editing reports, developing and revising log notes and strategies.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in psychology, counseling, social work, occupational therapy, physical therapist, speech language pathology or nursing is required; a master's degree and license is preferred. Knowledge of worker's compensation funding, neuropsychology, behavior and cognitive rehabilitation techniques is also desired. Experience working with families is required. Interest in working within a team approach system is also recommended. Competence in planning, organizational, writing and time management skills are required. The ability to communicate with families, professionals and co-workers is a must. A valid driver's license, insurance and responsible driving behaviors must be maintained.
