Full-Time Aquarist- Aquatics Department
The Greensboro Science Center (GSC) is hiring a Full-Time Aquarist who will report directly to the Aquatics Curator. GSC is a 68,000-square-foot AZA and AAM-accredited science museum and a 33,000-square-foot aquarium that includes our current 12-acre zoo and the new 10-acre expansion. The Wiseman Aquarium features African black-footed penguins, small-clawed Asian otters, a 90,000-gallon reef exhibit, a 7,000-gallon ray touch tank, and a multi-taxon Amazon exhibit housing small primates, reptiles, and Amazonian fish. We also display several other animals including a giant Pacific octopus, jellies, corals, seahorses, Indo-Pacific fishes, and more. Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Curator, the full-time aquarist will perform general maintenance for several fresh and saltwater aquatic systems and provide assistance to other areas as needed.
In addition to working with a diverse collection of animals, GSC also offers staff the opportunity to support local and international conservation projects. GSC offers a yearly conservation and research grant for staff to pursue projects of their choosing. Furthermore, GSC is in the process of building a Biodome and aquatic quarantine facility slated to open fall of 2026. It is a great opportunity to become part of a dynamic team!
