Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the Role

Pictorus is looking for a talented software engineer with skills across a range of languages and frameworks. This is a senior-level position, where you will be given broad latitude to design and implement technical solutions across our software stack.

Ideally, a candidate for this position is equally comfortable in Python, Typescript, and Rust. They would also have experience designing, implementing, and supporting AWS architectures, both traditional workflows as well as serverless implementations. Bonus points for developers who love to program their own devices (Arduinos, Jetsons, Pis, etc).

An ideal candidate would be in the 5-10 years of experience range.

Job Requirements

• Ability to work in the US (no sponsorship at this time)

• Experience developing UIs in either React or VueJs

• Experience developing production Pythonic backend services

• Experience developing production applications in Rust

Preferred

• SF Bay area resident (we're hybrid remote/onsite from Oakland, CA)

• Expert Typescript developer

• Experience developing NodeJS Backends

• Active Rust contributor

• AWS blackbelt

• Familiarity with device-level coding (Arduinos, Jetsons, Pis, etc)

About The Team

Pictorus is a software startup based in Oakland, California. People say "hardware is hard," but it's often the software interface that makes working with devices so challenging. This is the problem, faced by hardware developers all over the world, that we are out to solve. We've been building robotic/vehicle software for over 20 years combined - for NASA, the DoD, and drone startups Saildrone, DroneDeploy, and Matternet.

We want to make this technology approachable to everyone passionate about electronics, whether professionally, for personal projects, or university research. It shouldn't require a PhD or decades of software engineering experience to program powerful device software.
